This was the first book my book club decided to tackle and it's one I am so glad I read when I did. I've owned a copy for quite some time but it struck at just the right time. Walls uses a genuine voice of someone who lived it can only have to bring the reader along her nomadic early life and the grit of a coal mining town lingers after you turn the last page.
