Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard by Chip Heath, Dan Heath

2.0

(read as ebook)
What's it about?
It's a self-help/business book about making changes/transformations, both at the personal and organizational level.

What did I think?
I wasn't a huge fan. Too many stories that weren't very compelling or interesting. A lot of them described a "successful change", but it wasn't clear that the change could actually be considered a success. Like the campaign to get people to drink skim milk. Did health outcomes improve? I think not. Same goes for the Brazilian rail company that focused on short term fixes to improved their cash flow. They were still in business a few years later, but what about a few more years? Did their focus on the short term come back to to bite them?

Best takeaway was to focus on the positive ("bright spots"), what is already working, when trying to make a change. Makes sense. If something is working well in current conditions, can see if lessons can be applied elsewhere and if it can be scaled up.
