I picked this up around Halloween and honestly could never really get into it. I didn't read this as a kid, but it definitely has the vibe of things I love. I was promised slightly creepy middle grade hyjinx and instead got a sort of boring story where even when things happen they don't seem to really actually have any impact whatsoever. Gave it a real shot, but was never able to finish it.
