the realest thing said in this book was when gil's mom complained about how the prices of two things keep going up due to inflation: gas and oxtail.
this was a love letter to me personally, as a brooklyn native and a second-generation jamaican kid who grew up on the streets of brooklyn. nice to see that kind of representation in a book for a change; all of the nods and smiles to my culture were 100% accurate!
