To Touch a Reaper: A hauntingly beautiful love story. by R.R. Mangold
5.0
This was a book club pick for another book club that I host called The Indie Book Nook. This was a reread for me and I enjoyed the book just as much as I did the first time around.
This book follows Jimi, a nurse, and Mila, a reaper as they learn the truth as to why Jimi has the ability to see her, when no one else should be able.
Mila has been around for literal centuries as a reaper with the sole purpose of collecting the souls of the recently passed and eventually unload the souls to get them to where they need to be. Jimi spotting Mila in the room near one of the patients on his floor came as a total shock and Mila becomes curious as to how. Reapers are never seen except by the souls they are to collect and they cannot experience emotions or touch and out of the blue this man cannot only see her, but touch her.
It isn’t something that she wants to give up and she finds herself more than fascinated with this man. I am going to put a deep emphasis on this book is a love story because the heartbreak is so unreal, but the final sentence is like damn well I guess I have some hope. I have cried during both of my reads of this book when I got to the reason as to why Jimi and Mila have this special connect and I cannot stress enough how much reading this book is worth it.
This book is a five star read for me and I will read anything Rena writes, especially if this is what we get for her DEBUT novel. Incredible.
