Real Fake Husband: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romance by Jolie Day
Did not finish book. Stopped at 25%.
TLDR I thought this would be like Annika Martin’s Billionaire series but it very much wasn’t …
I expected this to be unserious and funny etc but it was just so randomly thrown together that I couldn’t even enjoy the silliness.
1. There should have been a little more resistance around the marriage. It made 0 sense that they are just okay with being legally married in the same house just bc the grandma had it in the will. No resistance just total “ok she’s wacky for this will but let’s go for it!” 2. Dry humping him the first night is insane. Felt like it almost toes the consent line. 3. The fake that Callum had spit in her lunch and made her eat it is F*king wild. It’s almost irredeemable, I’d have excused the taking the lunch and tossing one on the floor but the spit and eat was disgusting and I almost stopped it. Again, this is another reason she should have resisted this will way more.
4. Small nit but the book cover does not set expectations for the MML at all. Tats and a biker and a specific hair cut…should have just skipped the man in a suit on the cover. This doesn’t really matter but it does make him seem more aggressive than he actually is maybe idk. Twice TWICE in the 20% I read he uses the rebuttal “Gosh I didn’t ask you to suck my c*ck just xyz” and I’d expect that in a biker book but it threw me off and made me wary of him.
