The Selection by Kiera Cass

5.0

this review is going to be kind of different.... because I only have a few negative things to say.

WHAT I LIKED:

— honestly, everything.
— the fact that this sounds like something the United States could become. yeah, it’s unnerving but it’s also a nice look into the future.
— because I thought The Selection process was rather barbaric before I started this, it was nice to know that it wasn’t and that Maxon is who I am really rooting for.
— with the exception of Celeste and Aspen, I don’t dislike any of the characters. I usually end up hating several, so this is great.
— the novel was a very fast read. I’m not sure if it was the writing style or the story it’s self, but I really enjoyed it.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE

— Aspen. everything about this nuisance just gets on my nerves.
— Aspen, part two. he makes America do dumb things after HURTING HER.
— overall, I liked America, BUT... some times I question her sanity.
— it is slightly predictable if you think about the logistics of this being in a series but... it’s not that deep.

OVERALL

I really enjoyed this and cannot wait to continue the series. while I don’t think this is something that will stick with me for the rest of my life, it certainly belongs sOmEwHeRe on my favorites self.
I didn’t really read into the negative reviews on this but I know some don’t like it. I’m not sure why, but if still recommend this. again, it was very enjoyable. maybe not stellar but it certainly deserves the praise it has received. it is a fast read so even if you don’t care for it, it’s over soon I guess? I don’t know what I’m trying to say, to be honest. I think it’s worth it. I really know enjoyed it and I’m probably gonna finish the series sooner rather than later.

this review and all opinions are my own. while it is unlikely, the review and rating is subject to change as I sit on the piece.
