Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
5.0
*4.5 stars*
I remember reading a two-chapter sample mooonths ago but from then on I was so incredibly hyped and excited to get my hands on this pretty book. I had to read it. No matter the reviews, I knew I have to get it because I already LOVED it. Some of you might now that I was in a huge reading slump but as soon as I got Rebel of the Sands I started it almost immediately. This book was such a great help at getting out of my slump!
I want to start by talking about the characters ... and by that I mean Amani and Jin. I adored these two. Seriously, I like them together as much as each of them indivually. They're such amazingly written and well fleshed-out characters and made me feel connected to them immediately. Obviously I ship the heck out of them! RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING. I knew these two would be the death of me and oh my god, I was right! There were certain scenes where I couldn't contain my excitement and made some very awkward noises.
"Jin always smiled at me like we were both about to be in big trouble and he loved it."
Their relationship is slow burn which makes it only better, if you ask me. There's banter and sarcasm and witty comments and and and. I LOVE THIS. They're such a great team and complement each other perfectly. I guess you can tell I'm in a fangirl mode by now? Good.
I also liked all the side-characters because they were different and very interesting with their ... talents. I don't wanna say too much but BE EXCITED. It's freaking awesome and I couldn't get enough of all of them.
The world itself was brilliant with so much to discover. You might be a bit overwhelmed at first - mostly because they're traveling a lot and there's so much to see -, but you'll appreciate all these places nonetheless. It's amazing and I really, really like the desert/western theme of this book. I've never read something like this but I highly enjoyed it! I only wish there would've been a map because there are SO MANY places to discover and at times I felt a bit lost. Plus, I love maps and I feel like it would've made the book so much more awesome.
"The world makes things for each place. Fish for the sea, Rocs for the mountain skies, and girls with sun in their skin and perfect aim for a desert that doesn't let weakness live."
So what's my conclusion? A MUST-READ. Honestly, this book was an epic adventure and the ending leaves you wanting more ... it's not really a cliffhanger but OH MY GOD. I need book 2 immediately! Just give it to me!! Everyone who hasn't read this yet should definitely pick up a copy as soon as possible - trust me, it's worth it!

To put it into simple words: I LOVED IT.
Actually that's no surprise for me because I was already hooked after the two-chapter sampler I read months ago but ohhh man. This book is BRILLIANT. It not only looks GORGEOUS but the story is also extremely interesting and has amazingly well written characters. ME LIKEY! ♥
