The Wild Girls by Pat Murphy
5.0
Holy Smoke. I'm usually not a fan of realistic fiction, but The Wild Girls sucked me in from start to finish. It manages to be both wise and fabulously amoral, which is a combination I always hope to see in MG fiction but rarely find. It grinds along truthfully and sings with feral beauty; can't wait to pass along to my daughters.
The only thing that irked me was that Newt's father is repeatedly referred to a very intelligent. There's little to no evidence to support this claim, other than that the characters keep telling me. :P
