The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver

5.0

It took me way too long to read this because: life. That’s no reflection on the book, though. Kingsolver creates a large world, historically tied to our own through art, politics, and movements. I read “The Poisonwood Bible” 8 years ago and recognize her ability to write deeply contemplative characters without being overly dramatic.

*Read during the 2020 Corona pandemic/Trump administration. Interesting to read (brief mentions) about long quarantines during polio outbreaks coinciding with the fear-based governing of McCarthyism.
