The narrator / main character had no agency, no personality, no growth. Things happened to him and around him and he just… took it? He was basically invisible so there’s no one driving the story forward. Every relationship felt so one sided like these toxic people in his life are just interacting with the wall.

The author is primarily a poet and his writing style is the reason most people LOVE this book but it just wasn’t for me! There were a few pages where I could see it but mostly it was just too edgy for me. The girls who get it, get it and the girls who don’t, don’t. I don’t.
