Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
3.0
I should start this review off by saying that Wuthering Heights is different from some of the other gothic novels that I have read. Personally, it wasn’t for me but I understand the appeal it has to others. It’s well written and the characters are unique and selfish and more real than other characters in some other classic novels. It’s dark and eerie - obviously, it’s a gothic novel - but not like other gothic novels.
I think what I liked about this book is that even though it isn’t very long and really only takes place in one place it feels much longer because it’s not simple. Wuthering Heights, also has some amazing quotes. For example: “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” I’ve heard that quote more times than I can count but I had no clue that it came from this book.
