I almost gave up on this book before I started reading it, because of Khaw. I'm not a big fan of theirs. Their writing is too poetic for me. I like a more concrete writing style. I've read two of their other books, and just didn't like either one. But the concept was too good for me to pass up without even trying. And I'm so glad I picked it up! Writing with Kadrey really worked for them! It had all of the horror Khaw is known for, but the storyline was easy to follow and the world building was superb. I can't wait for the next book!
