This book needs some talking about…
First of all the pacing in the beginning is super slow. This is not something that bothers me when I’m interested and I was definitely interested, but some people may struggle. If you didn’t like the first 2/3 of SJM Crescent City you won’t like the first like 40% of this one. I personally love both.
Second caveat to this book is that the magic system and world building are not clearly explained. It’s all rather simple if you are just enjoying the book and not questioning things. However if you are a reader who questions things or needs that in depth knowledge or it throws you off, this will be an issue for you.
Lastly there are little 3rd POV (baddie snippets) in between some chapters. In the beginning they are jarring and make no sense, but by the end they flow better.
Now after all of this you’d think I didn’t like this book but let me tell you I LOVED it!! Honestly this was one that I blew through and enjoyed thoroughly and at time didn’t even know why I loved it so much. I think I was just so entertained and I liked the characters so much I didn’t care. So take this for what you will but even with the issues I give it 5 stars because it’s been awhile since a book excited me to binge it and jump straight into the sequel!
