The Man Who Could Move Clouds by Ingrid Rojas Contreras

5.0

I love the author's writing style. She makes a very interesting statement around the genre "magical realism," and how this book might be put in that category when for her, it is her life as she has lived it. It reminds me of Frida Kahlo being called a "surrealist" and how she balked at this, saying instead "I paint my reality." I deeply loved how the author crossed back and forth across many boundaries, including geographical, spiritual, historical and cultural. It's also the story of a mother and daughter. It's the story of being born into a gifted family. It's a story about magic and healing. Truly a great read.
