Runaway Girl by Tessa Bailey
5.0
Sooo I had too many books going and am finally finishing them all... this one blew me away!
I was really prepared to not get in to Naomi’s story - poor little rich girl can’t survive on her own stories don’t tend to be my jam. But that is not this story - this is a story of coming of age in your twenties and declaring your independence from your (truly horrific) family. But as Naomi runs away - she runs right in to Jason. Who is grumpy, gruff and has no idea how to deal with the fallout of the death of his younger sister or raising the one that is left. But he is a caretaker at heart and it is lovely to watch. This is also one of the finest examples of a slow burn that has a constant level of sexual chemistry. It is an utter delight to read. I did wish I saw more of Jason's pining... so that is the reason it is 4.5 stars rounded up.
I also deeply loved the relationship between Birdie and both main characters. She gets a novella that is also adorable!
