“The World After Alice” is the heartbreaking story of two families coming together 12 years after the suicide of the daughter, sister, and friend who connects them. Each character is flawed and wrapped up in their own self-interest, making them feel very real. The story flashes between the lead up and aftermath of Alice’s suicide and the wedding weekend of her best friend, Morgan, and brother, Benji. The writing style is heavy on vocabulary. I’m glad I read the ebook because I frequently needed definitions. I would’ve liked to see more of Morgan and Benji’s romance, but this story is admittedly better as the family drama it is.
