i can not believe this was a debut novel. wow, just wow. this book was a rollercoaster and there were so many times where i had to put it down to breathe. the prose is stunning and the story is arranged so well that you feel you are straddling two worlds at once. this is a book i would encourage everyone to read, obviously look at trigger warnings. it was hard hitting and i just want to give vanessa the biggest hug and tell her it is all going to be okay. hearing her rationalize and try to understand the relationship was incredible and eye opening, sometimes i found myself siding with her while other times i wanted to scream at her and tell her she was wrong. a story so real, it’s scary.
