A Distraction of Lies by Charlotte E. Hart

5.0

A Distraction of Lies is one of those stories that immediately sucked me in and held me fascinated throughout. Hannah’s life drastically changes in one night and the very foundations of her world are rocked, leaving her questioning her relationships and structure of her own life.

The dark undertones built like a haunting melody and whenever the mysterious, reclusive Grayson, appeared on the page, my heart rate increased with intrigue, and dare I say it, fear. He exudes danger and darkness. He’s like complicated conundrum, which filled my head for hours, trying to work him out. Like Hannah, I was powerless to Gray’s magnetic force that captivates and draws you in. Grayson’s own POV chapters, give us, the reader, tantalising bread crumbs of his thoughts and actions, increasing my curiosity to his enigmatic ways.

The connection that Hannah has with Grayson is explosively powerful and him stepping out of his comfort zones for her, is endearing. Hannah’s world as she knew it, may have shattered, but she shows great strength - she’s got backbone and just wants to experience something real. I really grew attached to her and I’m in her corner cheering her on.

It’s been ages since a new trilogy has had me chomping on the bit for the next book and I’m counting down the days until book 2 releases. Ms Hart has produced a thrilling, dark, suspense story that kept me on my toes and speeding through the pages, addicted to all things Hannah and Gray. I highly recommend one-clicking this enthralling book.
