The panic is not mine to carry anymore. I can let go.

Rather than being a scary, fast paced horror, this book leans more towards being a work of literary fiction with horror elements, but honestly I’m not mad at it at all. It’s slow, it’s contemplative and all aspects came together to create such a great read. Literally any media that tackles the theme of grief from a new, refreshing angle pleases me and this book was equal parts heartbreaking and heartwarming.

I think the thing I adored the most about this book is it’s broad discussion on the way parents often project their expectations onto their children and how despite efforts made through nurturing/grooming, the child will eventually grow up and exist outside those expectations.

Monstrilio… I love that weird little guy.
