Slavery Inc: The Untold Story of International Sex Trafficking by Lydia Cacho

5.0

What a great book that is really hard to realize the atrocities that happen to women & children. This is so necessary for people to be aware of, but they aren't. The way the author goes to so many parts of the world to experience & interview people is astonishing. She put her life on the line to get to the truth of what happens in the sex trafficking industry. It's simply shameful that this even exists but it has for such a long time. There are various aspects to this industry that are all linked which one doesn't actually know exists. You will definitely learn a lot reading this book & probably feel some anger, disgust, sadness, etc. The fact that people are more afraid of criminals & their involvement vs. police says something in itself. Reading about all the corruption involved w/the government (officials) taking bribes, looking the other way is nauseating to say the least. The black hole that you can end up in is more than frightening & women & children go through this on a daily basis, sometimes never being able to get out. Not for the faint of heart.
