This was a book I got during a librofm sale a while ago and decided to listen to because I was in the mood for something different. I would call this book gentle sci-fi. It's much more of a family drama with a sci-fi setting/side plot. Jakob reappears after disappearing 15 years ago (turns out he's been fighting in an intergalactic war) and reunites with his family who has been disconnected and never really recovered from his disappearance. Evie has thrown herself into alien conspiracy theories while Kassie has been wrapped up in caring for their mother with dementia. Honestly, I didn't like any of the siblings which definitely impacted my enjoyment of the book. All of them kind of sucked for different reasons. This was an easy read but not necessarily for me.
