I'm sorry, I just can't. I've been reading this book for a month. This has become a chore to read that I'm not looking forward to anymore.
Reading from the perspective of a character graphically describing how he wants to violently rape a woman in detail (and it wasn't even the first time either!) was the final straw.
I'm just not vibing with Follet's writing style; it's so blunt, to the point and it keeps me at such a distance from the story. I'm also still not liking any of the characters so far, and at 360+ pages and it being a character focused story, that says a lot.
I wanted desperately to like this, but I can't bring myself to finish it.
