*between 3 and 3.5 stars*

I read this based on Holly's recommendation on Goodreads and simply because the cover is extremely appealing. Just look at it, isn't it stunning? I love the colors and the beautiful sky and EVERYTHING. I didn't really know what to expect from this book but because Holly loved it so much I had hopes for it to be really, really good! Sadly, I didn't like it as much as I hoped I would. *sigh*

Everything was a bit confusing - I don't think the words (like Corta, Exir, ...) were explained good enough ... well, not until I was at 45% at least. Most of the time I had no clue what Petyr and the others were talking about because I didn't understand a thing about their world. That bothered me a lot at first but when the author finally started to explain things properly I was really interested!

I'm also not a fan of this "insta love" that happened between Petyr and Scarlett ... well, it wasn't really insta love but Petyr is kind of "obsessed" with her right from the beginning, that's how I saw it at least. I did like the characters though and wanted to know more about them - especially about Dru.

When they entered Petyr's world I really started to like the book - it was so much more interesting to read about Emphyrian and the Forbidden was another part of the book that I highly enjoyed. I can't and won't tell you what it is, just that it's kinda dark and dangerous. Mysterious, I know, but oh so awesome!

Overall it was a good book with some flaws and I ended up giving it 3/3.5 stars because I can't ignore them so easily. I heard there'll be at least 1 or 2 other books so there's still potential! I'm definitely curious and want to know what'll happen next - the book ended on a cliffhanger, so I'm even more excited, wohoo!

The ending was actually pretty good and made me curious for the next book! Still only 3/3.5 stars because there were some things that "disturbed" me a bit. Overall it was an enjoyable read though! :)
