Black Beauty by Anna Sewell

Did not finish book.

Look. I know this one is a classic, but I think I was too old for this one when I read it. I didn't finish it and didn't bother to keep it either. The only reason I picked it up, to be quite honest, was because I'd found a pretty Hallmark edition with a gorgeous velvet cover at my local Goodwill (along with similar editions of Alice in Wonderland and A Little Princess) and I simply HAD to have it. I guess I wasn't as picky about what books I picked up back then, as long as it looked pretty. And though I tried, I just couldn't get into this book. I'm not sure what possessed me to read the book in the first place - I'm really not all that into horses - but I guess I'm glad to say I tried. I think I would have liked this one when I was younger, to some degree. After all, every little girl goes through a horse phase, it seems, even if it's the Barbie kind of horse phase. But I was bored by it as an adult and promptly gave up my pretty copy in the hopes that some other little girl somewhere could enjoy it better than I did.
