What an incredible ending to a really amazing series.
Since it was a finale, of course, there were so many loose ends tied up in the last few chapters. Some of them were expected and satisfying to "be right" ("I called it!") and some of them were total twists I didn't see coming. But in both instances the suspense and pay-off was wonderfully delivered.
It has very similar vibes to the fellowship in Lord of the Rings - a group of mismatched talents where none is more important than any other but only works as/if they work together. While it's quite the undertaking I can easily recommend this book & series to any readers - high fantasy fans will find enough intrigue here to keep them page-turning and casual fantasy fans will be presented with a world that moves quickly and is, for the most part, easily digestible. Not to mention the fact that the series becomes better and better as it goes on so there's always something new and refreshing coming.
The "aftercare" (closure after the epic and intense climaxes) in this book is unrivaled. Maybe one of the best closings to a series I have ever read. I shed more than a few tears at both the contented endings or heartbreaks alike.
I'll end with one of my favorite quotes from the series:
“A beautiful day might bring disaster, while a day that begins trapped inside an ancient tomb, might be the best one of your life. If you don´t abandon hope on pleasant days, why do so on those that begin poorly?”
