Okay, this book was really, really well done! The way it was written in verse is absolutely perfect and fits this story so well. It really gives you that extra emotional punch. I'm such a sucker for poetry and verse so I'm always looking for good books told in verse. I haven't read many but I think this is by far the best one. I think it helps as well that it takes place in such a short amount of time. Often time it's very difficult for you to really feel connected to characters or stories told through verse because of the limited words and format. I think that's the biggest downfall with a lot of verse novels. But this is really quick and gets right to the point.
Also I would HIGHLY recommend the audiobook. The narrator is the author, Jason Reynolds and it's so, so good. It's something else hearing it live.

This is a very well done novel and one I really liked and enjoyed but didn't absloutly love, hence the three star.
