The Nix by Nathan Hill

4.0

Whew! This was a ride!
It’s got a bit of everything! All mixed together like a huge jumbled up Rubik’s cube that the author methodically and sometimes seemingly counterproductively (and not at all quickly) solves into reveal a cohesive masterpiece.
It gave me vibes of Owen Meany, the Lincoln Highway, and Eleanor Oliphant but with more satire/snark. It has the feel of a “classic.” - like the kind of book people way smarter than me could spend hours analyzing and discussing to dissect a multitude of significant and meaningful theories of humanity. … it feels rich and deep like that.

There weren’t any characters I really loved or wanted to champion but even the characters I didn’t like were charming in some way. I’m sure I will vividly think of them often!

It is a complete package!

The narration was just right (I ear-read).
