The story of Graham McNeil, grouchy wolf alpha and co-leader of the Las Vegas Shiftertown, and Misty, his human girlfriend.

Misty is in trouble with some bad guys that are looking for her brother, and Graham gets involved to saves her, starting to realize that she means more to him than he pretends she does, since his pack needs him to mate with a strong wolf shifter.

Unfortunately for both of them, the bad guys were involved with a fae who lured them where he could spell them and now they are both fighting the effects of the spell and are trying to find a way to break it. Friends and allies come to their aid, especially when it becomes clear that the fae have a terrifying plan that affects all shifters.

They have managed to successfully spell swords to connect to the shifters' collars and allow them to control the shifters and use them in yet another world, this time one against humans. Obviously the shifters are against this plan and steps are taken to prevent this from happening

An enjoyable part of that story is the fact that in the end the badass alpha wolf is

rescued by the human, who with the help of a spell book that's come into her possession after some goblin meddling, manages to both release him from the spell and save his life, as well as protect the shifters' secrets from humans
