It is the kind of gay detective novel that I like but the slow burn was too slow for me. I would have preferred more romance. Halfway through I wasn't engaged anymore.
If you like mm romance detective books you might like it though because the tropes are the ones typical of this genere, it is well written and the south rural setting is atmospheric.
