Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

Was expecting this to be better than the TV series but, it’s not. I was pretty disappointed because when I saw a chunk of the series I thought “now this is a solid idea, I only wish it was made better” and reading the book I think the same thing - could’ve been written a good bit better. Why does an exciting plot drag?

-also I was surprised there wasn’t more back and forth between the future and the past. You’re sitting on a gold mine of her between two lovers but it just sits there not being used. What if she’d gone back only to miss jamie and then be torn and with some great writing you have a solid subplot beyond survival leading to her risking her life to live in an older world with the one who wins her heart. If that happens more later in the series of books, I’m not going to wade through more of this stuff to reach if. Chance had and lost, for now.
