oh so lovely. really about learning to communicate / hear from another's perspective and understanding why it means so much to them. it's about LISTENING! and the art!!!! so shaped and colorful and varied gorgeous! gotta strategize about storytime sound design for this one... would be good to make it interactive with the eye covering moment and asking what the kids might hear...

i do want to bring up a criticism my supervisor leveled when she read the book and we talked about it. it teeters on the trope of blind people getting enhanced senses due to their blindness, rather than the enhancement coming from holding a more focused attention on the sense. if done in storytime i will add a note afterwards on this! in addition the usage of eyes/gaze in expression is clearly stylized this way for picture book communication of emotion, but sometimes inaccurate to how someone who has been blind her whole life would likely use them to express herself or show her attention is focused somewhere. things to think about!
