Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson

Did not finish book.
It turns out that listening to audiobooks is laying bare some of the problematic issues I tend to skim over with fantasy authors. I thought maybe Sanderson was a last bastion of white male fantasy authors writing the epic high fantasies that i could manage but...i can't listen to them. The way he writes women, for instance, is excruciating and tbh, once I've exposed myself this way, i can't go back to trying to read with my eyes either.

As mentioned by a few others and not by enough - the ableism, the mental health denial, the weird treatment of queerness, the gross hatred of fatness, the hetero obsession with relationships...and dear God the description of safe hands *shudder*
