Goodbye, Things: On Minimalist Living by Fumio Sasaki

2.0

I am still not sold on the minimalist living.

I had lived on a futon for a year in college and there's not a day goes by where I didn't regret my decision of not buying a bed.
I haven't sold/thrown my rollerblades despite not using them since I broke my leg (i stretches everyday but the ache is still there so max 20mins of rollerblading...soooo not worth the hassle). I could go on about things I own but I digress.

The author has a personal issue with his belongings, and probably himself for that matter so he thinks he is reinventing himself. Probably emulating Steve Jobs makes him feel better about himself.

However, credit is given where credit is due.
I do have this issue where its hard for me to part with old things but Marie Kondo's 'spark joy' way usually works. His no nonsense idea on "just get rid of things that people consider garbage, letting go of 'someday' & let go of the idea of getting your money worth" is quite wholesome. I needed to hear that.

This book is way too long though...for someone who said having less things make you appreciate time...so Mr Sasaki, you could've cut the book in half. I grew bored of your crush on Steve Jobs. If y'all on the fence on reading this, I'd suggest you skip to the back and read his 55 tips to say goodbye to your things.
