i hate saying that this was a surprise but i am surprised with how much i enjoyed this.

for many different reasons but starting with that what i read before by this author didn’t work for me at all.

i also have not read fangirl with this is apparently a short story of -which by the way don’t seem to really matter other than most likely already knowing the characters but i didn’t and clearly that worked out just fine!

also because it has Covid as a topic and in a way the main focus of why and how the story comes to be. i am still not sure how i feel about Covid stories as many people are i am sure and mostly just don’t read them out if not wanting to hate them simple because they are not the right kind of Covid story that i can read.

but as i said: surprise! it all worked here!

i loved how this story focused on the Covid time and fears that came from and because of the pandemic but not in a bad way at all.
as someone with a health risk and not only having to be careful.

it also wanting to be careful it was nice to read how Regan felt about it all. how she struggled with her family who didn’t take the risks seriously.
who’s trying to balance being careful and being too cautious but no longer really knowing the difference and not really knowing if she wants to go back to ignorance.

i loved how this story balance the covid limitations with connecting and coming together.

how it showed the changes during 2020 and the already again changing times of 2021 and how different t he two christmas during those times where but how people like Regan -and myself- felt with having to be around people again not knowing where they were and who they been in contact with or how clean they actually are.

i also enjoyed the romance even if i do with the kissing wouldn’t have been part of it mostly because that doesn’t really fit -of course in my optik - into the very cautious person that Regan and her behavior is. but maybe that’s just my own thoughts instead? and i do understand why the kissing happens and it was still a great story despite that.

i really enjoyed this and would recommend it.
also it might be set during christmas but it’s not really a holiday read. so read when ever you feel like reading this!
