From the Shadows of the Owl Queen's Court by Benedict Patrick
5.0
Another great tale by a wonderful storyteller and an excellent addition to the Yarnsworld series.
In this book we revisit the Magpie King's forest, which I am very excited about. Although we start our story in the Courts of the Owl Queen and get our dose of the politics there we are quickly introduced to the characters from the Magpie King's forest. It's a great exploration of the world and giving us exciting hints at what we might be able to expect from the Yarnsworld series in the future.
Overall this book is brilliant. It's a fantastic addition to the Yarnsworld series with some characters you will love, and some you'll love to hate. I really loved the deeper exploration of the world and the epic scope that the author gave this book.
It took me a little longer to get properly into than the previous books, as I think that the voice of the story is unusual, but once I got used to it and settled into its rhythm I couldn't stop.
As always there are fairy tales sandwiched between the story chapters of the book, and as always they are all amazing. This is one of the aspects that I really love about this series, it's such a good way to weave a deeper world, and the way that the author references the stories after you've read them really makes you feel part of it.
This book is an epic addition to the Yarnsworld series and I highly recommend that you pick it up.
