I'm not an expert but I think this graphic novel leans more toward late middle grade/very early YA than YA. It was a little surface level for my liking, but it was still a worthy read and I think it will appeal to young readers. As a white woman, it did help me learn about the different kinds of scarves and clothing that Muslim women wear (which is a little shameful to admit, honestly). Any time spent reading the stories of cultures/religions that are not your own is time well spent.
