summer, the female main character, is one of the most emotionally unintelligent, stupid, bratty, and naive characters that i have ever read. her wishy washy nature irritated the crap out of me and in no world am i rooting for her.
i ABSOLUTELY HATE it when the main character clearly has a saboteur in their life and they don't realize it. maybe i have trust issues, or maybe these characters are just dumbasses.
miscommunication in this book is not a thing bc aiden makes it clear what he wants. summer is the annoying one dragging this book on and blaming it all on her daddy issues. everyone has daddy issues these days, but not everyone is as cruel as this girl. i felt bad for her at first, but as the book went on and on, it became harder and harder to continue this book, much less like her.
aiden is fine or whatever, kinda boring though. it doesn't feel like he has any motivations other than play hockey and get the girl. boring and annoying. also, almost insta-love and i hate that too.
and yes this book has a lot of similarities with Icebreaker, and in my opinion Icebreaker did it better. luckily for Icebreaker, i read that first, so it had a fighting chance. this one is not as fortunate :/
the audiobook narrators were meh. but i hate it when male audiobook narrators use that baby voice for females. you are aware that the female character is in her twenties and not two, right?
