Chloe Archer just never disappoints. I've been eagerly awaiting Siren in the Rain and was lucky enough to get an ARC for it! Of course, I started it right away because I couldn't resist. I could nitpick and probably find tiny flaws, but honestly, I just loved this to pieces. This book is set in Chloe's Monsters Hollow world, which is double the fun!

When Shae manages to escape his nightmarish life with his father and stepmother, he meets the MEOW squad, a secret group of Otherkind* who've devoted their lives to saving missing and endangered Otherkind. Among them is the Wolfkin named Griffin, who immediately claims that they're fated mates. Shae isn't so sure of that, but he does know he wants revenge.

Honestly, these two are just adorable. Shae is a half-siren and fabulously grumpy, while Griffin - with his wolf ears, tail, and other fun Wolfkin abilities - is just a big ball of himbo sunshiney goodness. I adored watching them bond and grow closer while they worked to get justice for Shae. But it's not just them I loved, though! The whole group was amazing. Emma (potion master), Ruby (elemental witch & healer), Cal (mage), Dallas (Bearkin), and Harper (vampire) are awesome. And a little birdie told me that those last three will get their HEAs down the line and I am beyond excited for that!

While this book is fairly low angst and has Chloe's usual trademark humor and fun shenanigans, it also touches on some serious topics like (not-so-)human trafficking and abuse, so be sure to pay attention to the content warnings at the start of the book! It was handled beautifully, but it is a sensitive topic and never truly easy to read about, so be warned!

You don't need to have read Chloe's Monsters Hollow books to enjoy this one, though I do recommend it just because they're fabulous. As it stands, Siren in the Rain is another winner for Chloe Archer, one that I will happily re-read again and again in the future.

*Otherkind is a blanket term in this world for anyone who isn't human
