The artwork is magnificent and cutting-edge in the way it’s trying to portray the universe’s collapse and rebirth. The problem is that everything in this story is at such a scale that even fold-out pages in a million colors and drawing-styles can’t really recreate the visions from the author. That said, Gaiman himself struggles quite a bit to bring some coherence to this over-the-top story. It’s impressive, but not a story you will dream about in the nights to come.
