Plainsong by Kent Haruf

I really enjoyed this. It's funny, I was reading a book before this where the author jumped between 2 characters and I found it really annoying, but here's a book that jumps between 5 or 6 characters and I couldn't put it down.

Haruf has in interesting style of writing, very sparse and matter of fact, but it works so well here. You get a tiny snapshot at the lives of these characters and the town of Holt, and it is just a snapshot, nothing is really resolved or tied up, it's just a brief glimpse at a few moments in their lives, and it's entirely engrossing.
