Dang it, I tried. I used to live really close to this neighborhood and I was so excited to remember it through fiction, but I just could not hang with the language. I'm a sci-fi reader, so I get flavor and am okay with letting things wash over me in the process of world building. But here the number of obscure references and granular details were just too much for me to wade through. DNF.
