I loved Next Year in Havana and When We Left Cuba so much and was so excited to read Isabel's story. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but Cleeton's writing never disappoints.
The Own Voices authorship is what makes these books. The authenticity is everything. The familial love for Cuba, the family history from Cuba, the understanding of how hard it is to live in a new country. Cleeton brings it all to the pages of these books.
It was really neat to travel to Barcelona for this one. It really added a lot of depth to the story. I really loved the time there.
Getting more of Alicia's history in this was was amazing. I figured she had reasons for the way she was. It was enlightening.
I also loved revisiting Beatriz's life more though I hope for even more in the next book - I mean I hope Maria gets her own book!
I absolutely loved Isabel's love story paralleled with Rosa's. I loved the second chances for so many of the characters. I loved how so many things came fill circle. This story was brilliant.
