This is one of those rare books that I thought I'd finish in one go and give 5 stars but didn't. Firstly, the writing didn't pull me in. It was boring and flat. Secondly, I am a 90s kid, raised in a different country, away from all the 80s hoopla. I just didn't get head-over-heels crazy with the 80s pop-culture references as other readers, well except for some of the books that were mentioned. It really didn't live up to its hype. Maybe I oversold the book to myself.
