Beauty and The Beard by R.M. Neill
5.0
We have met Sasha before in Alec, but this book shows a different side to him. This isn't about watching the uber confident model, looking for a good time, this is the stripped down version. We meet the real Sasha, the one who has been hurt and been taken advantage of. Not many people get to see him vulnerable. Leaf has a sadness that follows him, since his husband's death, but something about Sasha stirs something up inside. This book is about acceptance, healing and being at peace. It is not the story that I expected when I knew it was Sasha's story. It is a deep story and these two somehow hold each other up. The intimacy is so much more than romance novels, it is hard to explain and I feel this is a valid reason of how they fell in love in such a short space of time. They have been honest and open and that somehow allowed love to squeeze inside. I loved the loon facts and the significance plucked at the heartstring, that was an emotional read. The angst is related to the topics discussed, not anything between the MC's. I have a major craving for pancakes and maple syrup after this book, this is pretty much all Sasha eats. Ryan and Roman are up next, which I thought might happen. That is going to be one snarky story, I can't wait. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
