a collection of seven stories that discuss societal norms, relationships, the queer community, politics, technology, and more.
the title story, terminal boredom, is about a man and a woman who seem like they don't care about anything. they barely have emotional reactions to anything, and we don't really know if they're dating or not because it's not like they show feelings about anything at all. the story also depicts the society they live in, in which people are addicted to technology as if completely engulfed in it. it explores emotions, society, and the effects of technology on a person's psyche extremely well.
a story that also stands out is women and women, where women control society and men are isolated from it. another one i especially liked is you may dream, which explores sleep, dreams, absurdism, existentialism, and more.
i absolutely loved the author's writing style and it really added to the atmosphere of every story. overall, i would've given this 5 stars if i liked smoke gets in your eyes and old seaside club more.
