The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty
3.0
This is the first book in the Daevabad trilogy. I was looking forward for it as my fav genre is fantasy. This book has all the elements of fantasy, mixed with Middle Eastern backdrop.
One of the main character, Nahri, is portrayed as someone smart, independent and strong. However, I felt this wasn’t sustained throughout the novel. That’s because, she falls for Dara, who is emotionally unavailable and sort of toxic. I didn’t like that.
Apart from that, I felt the author dragged some part of the story, which I felt wasn’t necessary. At times I didn’t want to finish it but my mama ain’t raise a quitter..
