Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom: My Story of the 1965 Selma Voting Rights March by Lynda Blackmon Lowery
5.0
Tough to listen to but very moving. This first person account of the march to Selma in 1965 fills out the horrors and hate endured by Black people while also illustrating the community and hope of the time. Who we identify with, how we see ourselves in the story, what we do with this knowledge, how this is still glazed over in history classes... these are all important questions I am still mulling over personally and will continue to seek perspective about.
