the way this book deals with subjects like grief, memory and reality is very moving. my eyes welled up in tears every so often while reading the last two chapters. the ending is absolutely beautiful. i really loved how every simple and small detail had at least some sort of significance later in the story – even if it is mentioned at a devastating moment, or it's just jules reminiscing – i really enjoyed it.

however, it's not a perfect book. sometimes it's really clichéd and takes itself more seriously than it should; which, in those particular moments, really annoyed me. but by the end i hardly remembered exactly what made me roll my eyes because the last few chapters are outstanding.

all in all, i'm very glad this is the book i kicked off my winter with!
