3.5

In the past couple of days, I have binged all four books in this series and they’ve all blurred together in my head so I’m doing one joint review here talking about anything I can remember.

I really enjoyed the characters and their journey throughout the series. I’m not gonna lie, Pen’s aversion to just fully accepting the dark side really started to get on my nerves sometimes but that’s not anything about the book that’s just about my personal preference. It got really irritating when Beast was interrogating D-Neath and she was upset at the violence, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. I would have liked to see more of the dark side of her and the guys throughout the series.

I found myself skimming over the parts where they were dancing for extended periods of time, I don’t know what it was about those moments I just found cringy and hard to read (especially if they just started randomly dancing at the most inconvenient moments).

I really wish the author would have leaned in more to the connection between York and Dax and just had the balls to make both of them (or at least one of them) bisexual because I think that would have made the story and characters better. Saying that they could do it just because it turned her on felt like a cop-out. That scene in the hot tub was my favourite in the series by far. The romance and connection between Pen and the guys were definitely my favourite aspects of the story and is what had me coming back for every book.

All in all the series was really good, and as long as I could get past any cringiness I was feeling at certain moments I thoroughly enjoyed it.
